Immunity/Detox/Digestion

Get the MUC Out!

Digestion: You are NOT What You Eat!

You are what you ABSORB. Inside your gut reside more bacteria than there are stars in the sky! Poor bacterial digestion of your foods will compromise absorption of many vital nutrients, leading to acute and chronic malnutrition. When poor bacterial digestion occurs, you get MUC, metabolically undesirable compounds. Specifically, you get indican, a sign of poor absorption of the amino acid tryptophan.

Why is tryptophan important? It is the precursor to the ever-important neurotransmitter serotonin, your happy mood chemical! What’s more, serotonin is the precursor to melatonin, your sleep chemical.

In other words, without proper bacterial digestion of tryptophan, you’ll be a moody, depressed insomniac! That’s no fun.

Furthermore, if your gut is not absorbing tryptophan, we can make a reliable assumption that you are not absorbing many other important nutrients. This malabsorption may be due to:

  • Low hydrochloric acid production in the stomach
  • Low digestive enzyme production
  • Gut dysbiosis (imbalance in ratio of good to bad bacteria)
  • Yeast overgrowth (candida albicans)
  • G.I. pathogens
  • Parasites
  • Food sensitivities

Immunity: The War Within

Your body is made up of 100,000,000,000,000 cells. Right now, there is a war being fought to preserve the life and integrity of these cells. The enemy pro-oxidants wield free radical weaponry to destroy your cell walls. Antioxidants sacrifice themselves to defend you from this ongoing assault.

When antioxidants are outnumbered by pro-oxidants, the body produces MUC in the form of lipid peroxides due to increasing cell wall membrane debris. Damaged cells are malfunctioning cells. Malfunctioning cells can only lead to symptoms and disease.

When lipid peroxides are elevated, your body needs a “surge” of antioxidants via therapeutic supplementation and improved diet.

Detoxification: Are You Taking the Garbage Out?

With the exception of alcohol and sugar, everything that enters your body must be filtered through the liver before passing into the general circulation (bloodstream). In today’s chemical world of pesticides, food additives, heavy metals, and pathogens, the liver must work overtime to keep the body clean and toxin-free. When the liver works too hard, it may become clogged and eventually spill MUC into the kidneys and out through the urine. This MUC is called urinary bile acid sulfates, or UBAS.

When UBAS is elevated, the key is not only to use the proper protocols to cleanse and flush the organs of detoxification, but to find out WHY the liver was overloaded in the first place. Root causes may include:

  • Leaky gut syndrome
  • Poor diet
  • Food sensitivities
  • Adrenal fatigue
